Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 U.S. Edition
Reverso, A legend celebrates its 80th anniversary
In 1931, a watch was developed for Polo players with a dial that could flip, protecting it from shocks while offering a personalized engraved case-back. Eighty years later, the Reverso has progressed from watchmaking icon to cult status.
The Reverso has evolved through the years with new faces, sizes and complications but has never lost its essence. Today, wearing a Reverso from the current collection is an entry to an exclusive world – not only in terms of watchmaking history but also aesthetic refinement.
Certain legends draw their strength only from their age. Frozen in the past, immobilized forever, they speak of their history and not of their future. But sometimes, the legend is so great it can not help but flourish with each growing year.
The Reverso’s strength lays both in its past and just as much in its future.
Tribute to 1931 U.S. Edition
In 2011, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Reverso watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre created two Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 in steel and pink gold, featuring a black or white dial with dagger-shaped hands and baton-type hour-markers directly inspired by the original Reverso. The watches hold true to the spirit of 1931 in contemporary dimensions.
Today the brand is introducing a new addition to the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931, exclusively sold at the Beverly Hills Boutique and select U.S. retailers.
Donning the same black dial as its predecessor this year, this edition has straight hands with a pointed tip and baton-type hour-markers. To recreate the color tone the hands and markers of the historical 1931 would turn with age, Jaeger-LeCoultre used a tan luminescent material to bring out the vintage appeal. The Reverso logo on the dial is a faithful replica of the original 1931. Often it is the most subtle of changes that greatly influences aesthetics of a timepiece.
In 2011, a hundred (100) of the pieces will be produced and they will not be numbered.
Eduardo Fagliano Straps
History and craftsmanship are two things Jaeger-LeCoultre take great pride in. In the 80 years since the creation of the Reverso, the brand has held close historic connection to the polo world. As a result, it seems fitting that the straps for the Tribute to 1931 U.S. edition be made by arguably the best polo boot maker in the world.
In his craft, Eduardo Fagliano has no competition. The relationship between the greatest polo watch manufacture and the greatest polo leather manufacture was a natural one. Both have made great impressions in the polo world, attracting even Adolfo Camiaso to their brands, one of the best polo players in the world.
Each strap is hand made of cordovan leather at the Fagliano manufacture in Argentina. They are the perfect example Fagliano’s unparalleled talent.

About Fagliano History
In 1892, Pedro and Giacomina Fagliano started to work a workshop located in Tambo Nuevo Street, and steadily created the craftsmanship fame. Their sons Antonio, Santiago, Pedro and José went on to take over their craft. In 1924, Eduardo Alighieri arrived from Sicily, and he also contributed with his knowledge and experience.
Pedro’s son, Rodolfo, was born in 1929 and together with his two sons, Eduardo and Héctor, is now running the business. They have specialized in shoes and polo boots, following the European traditions. It is an entirely handmade production paying close attention to quality and detail.
Initially, Casa Fagliano manufactured shoes for simple customers and country people. Throughout the years, their customers have become polo players, famous actors, militars, kings and people from the nobility.
Each and one of them is part of a number of processes, however everyone know each other labor.
Eduardo was born and lives in Hurlingham since. He´s married and has two sons, Nicolás (26), who is an architect, and Germán (23), who has a business administration degree and is currently working at Casa Fagliano.
